The Curse of being a True Journalist – Scoop
Scoop is a Hindi language web series directed by Hansal Mehta. This web series is made of 6 episodes. The cast of this web series is chosen very wisely and they fit in their roles excellently. This web series tries to show the inside of journalism, the ups and downs of journalism and the gaps in journalism. It also tries to show how journalism should be. How a true journalist should not be treated.
The story is all
about the murder of a senior investigative journalist Jaideb Sen (Prosenjit
Chatterjee). Another female investigative journalist Jagruti Pathak (Karishma
Tanna) who is dedicated to her work like Jaideb Sen is being accused of the
murder of her colleague. Sen once told his colleague that if he fails with the
story he is chasing, only Jagruti can finish that story. But the police and the
media made Jagruti the murderer of Jaideb Sen. Is Jagruti responsible for Sen’s
murder? The fight of Jagruti against the whole world, this web series shows
some dark sides of journalism. It teaches you how to fill those gaps in
journalism.
I highly recommend
this web series to watch. This is a well-cooked story to experience. The
characters of this web series are praiseworthy. In particular, the character of
Imran Siddiqui (Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub) represents how journalists should do journalism. Imran is one of the lead characters in this series. I want
to quote Imran's dialogue: "If someone says it is raining
and another person says it is dry, it is not your job to quote them both. Your
job is to look out of the window and find out which is true." The
videography and visuals taken with the camera are brilliant. This series is
available on Netflix.
People who want to
be journalists love journalism or are already journalists, they will definitely
relate them to the story of Scoop. I am calling this series a masterpiece. I am
giving this web series a 5 Star rating.
